Broadly speaking, a data warehouse (DWH) is a business database where historical and current data from disparate sources have been consolidated into one central place. This provides a single source for most, if not all, reporting, improving consistency of management information across a business.

This sounds very simple, and in fact, if a data warehouse is designed, built, loaded and maintained correctly then it is - it certainly makes the reporting for the end-users and management a lot more simple.  At Datavation we have the necessary expertise to achieve this - we understand the theoretical and practical structures of the data warehouse well.

Generally we offer two types of data warehouse solutions to our clients. We can either work on your servers at your data centre or we can host the work on servers provided by Rackspace – industry leaders in their field.  

If you require a brand new server for new work and analysis to be done and you do not have the time or the expertise to set it up along with licences, then we can do that for you too.  We will liaise with Rackspace, specifying the hardware and licences you need and we will commission the server on your behalf. We will install all software required and will also administer the server for as long as you want us to.  And for smaller projects we will also consider hosting the solution on our own servers at Rackspace under our licence conditions.
